THE CLIENT
A Pharmaceutical Commercial Organization
THE GOAL
To develop a robust and intuitive tool that would streamline the scenario planning process for clinical studies. Needed a solution that could effectively visualize and manage complex data across multiple regions, countries, and individual sites, while also allowing for easy allocation of time off to optimize study timelines. This tool aimed to simplify this complexity into a user-friendly interface, enabling study managers to make informed decisions quickly and efficiently, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency and study outcomes.
KEY DELIVERABLES
- High-resolution designs
- Annotated Figma files

Due to some restrictions, instead of conducting user interviews, the team relied on detailed input from the stakeholders, particularly the project owner, who provided all necessary insights based on user feedback on their existing cumbersome tool. We focused the design on the primary tasks needed to run a scenario. Each iteration focused on refining the user interface to ensure clarity and usability.
I employed our 4D methodology, which mirrors Design Thinking, to guide the project. This framework allowed us to Discover, Design, Define, and Deliver the solution efficiently within the time constraints. As the sole designer, I worked closely with the project manager to ensure that all aspects of the project aligned with the client's goals.
MAJOR FOCUS AREAS
- Identify key instances in scenario planning
- Effectively visualize and manage complex data
- Efficiently manage a hierarchal structure
The final deliverable was a comprehensive, user-friendly tool that allowed the client to:
1. Effortlessly Manage Scenarios: This tool provided a clear and intuitive interface for visualizing and managing study scenarios. Users could allocate time off and see the impact on study timelines, making scenario planning more effective
2. Simplified Data Representation: The hierarchical data was presented in a way that was easy to navigate, balancing the need for detail with simplicity. The table view was carefully designed to avoid clutter while providing all necessary information.
3. High-Quality Deliverables: The project culminated in high-resolution designs and annotated Figma files, ready for handoff to the development team. The design was well-received for its clarity and usability, meeting the tight deadline without sacrificing quality.
